The responsibility of Contributors. LondonIndependent Story Prize or its suppliers or licensors, will not be liable with respect to any subject matter of this agreement under any contract, negligence, strict liability, any other damage or loss arising from or in connection with this competition other legal or equitable theory for: (i) any special, incidental or consequential damages; (ii) the cost of procurement for substitute products or services; (iii) for interruption of use or loss or corruption of data; or (iv) for any amounts that exceed the fees paid by you to LondonIndependent Story Prize under this agreement during the twelve (12) month period prior to the cause of action. London Independent Story Prize shall have no liability for any failure or delay due to matters beyond their reasonable control. The foregoing shall not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.


Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless London Independent Story Prize, its contractors, and its licensors, and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising out of your use of the Website, including but not limited to your violation of this Agreement.

Eligibility, Format, Submitting, Payment, Refunds, Prize rules are as:

You represent and warrant that (i) your use of the Website will be in strict accordance with the LondonIndependent Story Prize Rules, Privacy Policy, with this Agreement and with all applicable laws and regulations (including without limitation any local laws or regulations in your country, state, city, or other governmental area, regarding online conduct and acceptable content, and including all applicable laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from the the country in which you reside) and (ii) your use of the Website will not infringe or misappropriate the copyright and intellectual property rights of any third party.

  1. Entrants must be 18 years or over.

  2. Entry is open to everyone, nationally and internationally.

  3. All entries can only be made by the work's individual author.

  4. Entries must have been unpublished in print or online, or not been broadcast. 

  5. Entries can be on any theme or subject but must be original and written in English. They must also be for adult or young adult readers who are over 13 years old. 

  6. Authors retain full worldwide copyright throughout.

  7. Maximum length varies according to the categories, needs to be checked on the website.

  8. Entries should be typed in a plain legible font, the 11pt font is suggested.

  9. Entries will be read and judged anonymously. Please do not put your name, address, email, telephone number or any personally identifying information on any page.

  10. If the piece has no title, then its first three words must be used as the title.

  11. The acceptable file type is the doc.

  12. The file name must be the title of your piece. If your piece does not have a title, then the file name must be its first three words.

  13. Entry is online via email  We do not accept postal entries.

  14. No major corrections or alterations can be made after entries have been received.

  15. Entry is open as seen on the calendar. The current closing date is at Midnight on our Calender.

  16. There is no limit to the number of entries any single entrant may make.

  17. Entries are acknowledged by your receiving of a PayPal receipt.

  18. The standard fee is as seen on the Submit page of our website for one submission. Reductions are available for multiple entries and early submission.

  19. Submissions must be paid for via the PayPal buttons on this site. Payment can be made using your PayPal account or via Credit/Debit card option on the PayPal page.

  20. Full refunds are available up to the closing date of each round, please contact via email to us about it.

  21. Once a round's closing date has passed, no refunds can be made.

  22. The prize for the competition varies according to the categories, updated information needs to be checked on the website. A recommendation list will be also announced on our website. 

  23. The results of the competition will be announced on the London Independent Story Prize website.

  24. Entrants retain copyright. First, second, third will be published on our site. Recommended entries only have their titles and author names published for announcement purposes.

  25. All entrants will be considered for print and/or digital publication in our forthcoming London Independent Story Prize Anthology, which will be announced when there are enough stories to create the anthology.

  26. Entry constitutes acceptance of all London Independent Story Prize Rules, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy Policies. Entries that fail to comply with rules, terms and conditions, privacy policies and requirements will be disqualified. No correspondence can be entered into, Judges’ decisions are final.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Entire Agreement.                                                                                                                                                                                This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between LondonIndependent Story Prize and you concerning the subject matter hereof, and they may only be modified by a written amendment signed by an authorized executive of London Independent Story Prize or by the posting by LondonIndependent Story Prize of a revised version. Except to the extent applicable law, if any, provides otherwise, this Agreement, any access to or use of the Website will be governed by and construed in accordance with English law, and any disputes relating to these terms of use will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If any part of this Agreement is held invalid/unenforceable, that part will be construed to reflect the parties original intent, and the remaining portions will remain in full force and effect. A waiver by either party of any term or condition of this Agreement or any breach thereof, in any one instance, will not waive such term or condition or any subsequent breach thereof. You may assign your rights under this Agreement to any party that consents to, and agrees to be bound by, its terms and conditions; LondonIndependent Story Prize may assign its rights under this Agreement without condition.
